Effective
The sound it makes immediately makes you think of a beach cruiser, but like 10x as loud. That bell is SO EFFECTIVE at getting people out of your way lol. Gets drivers about to door you to close that door back up and look sorry.

One Sweet Ding a Ling
I researched until I was purple in the face. This bell is first class. Fit and finish smooth, shiny and ready for action. The large BRASS dome puts out a clear consistent ring ring. The metal strap connector conveniently handles any size of handlebar. No special measuring necessary.
Dome easily unscrews so I can get to the internal mechanism. There is no oil on the moving parts, gears and spinning shafts so I sprayed silicon into the mechanism. That does make it smoother & extends life. Definitely recommend this easy maintenance if you want bell to perform at its peak & last for years.
I mounted my bell on my right handlebar and use my thumb to activate. All the dimensions make it very easy /convenient to mount and ring safety. Delivers top performance with loud ring (not an annoying sound but a definite heads up) & is well worth the extra buck$.
Ships via US mail bubble pack & arrives in about a week or so. Prime not avail on this item when I ordered. Not particularly cheap but you do get what you pay for on this 60mm bell.
BOTTOM LINE: Loud, clear ding dong sound. Engineered for Long Life. EASILY EARN 5-STARS.

Pleasant sound, loud enough for the city
Pros:
-Pleasant-sounding ring
-Loud enough for the city
Cons:
-So bright and shiny that I sometimes worry someone might try to steal it even after it has been tied down with zip ties
-it’s big so you need quite a bit of room on your handlebars
-comes in one size designed to fit most standard-sized handlebars (doesn’t fit fat bars)
I bike on a daily basis in NYC and have tried out many different bells on my bike. However, none of these were sufficiently loud enough when you are biking around a city where there exists so much noise pollution and pedestrians walking on bike paths. Before I found this bell, I would often have encounters where the cyclists ahead of me could not hear my bell and I would have to shout in order to signal that I was going to pass them. I had the same issue with pedestrians, especially in areas around 42nd Street.
I was impressed when I found this bell in a sports gear store. It was shiny and created an awesome sound when rung. It was loud and pleasant. I did some research on the bll and found it on Amazon for a cheaper price. I would advise on putting some electric tape or something similar to protect your handlebars from any scratches. I have since been riding with this on my bike and enjoy ringing it just to hear its melodic ring.

I find myself ringing it when no one is around just to hear the sound
The sound is musical. Loud but not offensive. Most of the time, I just want to let people know I'm passing or heads up, so a soft single ding is nice. Other bells I've had make a loud (effective) but offensive sound, if you know what I mean. This bell sounds just like an old 1950's bell I have on an old German bike. You can choose to make one small ding to several dings to the full Brrrringgg, Brrrrringgg. The resonance carries on and on and on, at a pitch that catches the ear. What can I say. Best bell ever! It is big for a bell, about the size of a small tangerine, but not obtrusive on the bike. I wouldn't put it on my road training bike, but on my city errand bike, it's great. Expensive compared to a $3 bell. Does it ring 10x better? No. Can you get the same kind of sound from a $3 bell? No. Is the novelty and smile I have each time I ring it, worth it? Definitely.
